Eight months ago, Amay Sheth left Manhattan for Paris. He brought with him a family business, a Pomeranian named Oreo, and a conviction that starting over somewhere new is less a risk than a chance to build differently.
A Diamond House Goes Global
Amay is president of Excellent Facets, the natural diamond house his family has run for nearly thirty years, supplying rare white and colored diamonds to some of the world’s leading jewelry and timepiece maisons. What began as a New York business now spans Paris, Geneva, and a manufacturing workshop in Jaipur, India. The move to Paris wasn’t sentimental. It was practical: proximity to key clients, faster delivery on custom orders, and a time zone that finally made sense for a company doing business across three continents.
Reinvention, at a Slower Pace
For a New Yorker, Paris asks for a different rhythm. In the interview, Amay describes his move as a genuine reinvention, the kind that means rebuilding a life from scratch rather than just relocating one. What’s struck him most is how the city treats presence and detail as values in their own right, a shift he’s still adjusting to, and one he’s come to see as a better way to live.
Why He Joined EO Paris
Amay’s path to EO Paris started with his cousin, a member of the EO Belgium chapter, who described the network as transformative to how she approached entrepreneurship. As a relatively new entrepreneur himself, Amay was drawn to a room full of people who’d faced the same problems and were willing to share what they’d learned, not as advice, but as experience. After a three-hour “test drive” forum session with the Paris chapter, he was in.
He’s now preparing for his first placement in an English-speaking forum, notebook already open, ready to bring his sharpest questions to the table.
